My point was that unlike other businesses, this one is not influenced by your actual location, not to the same extent, anyway. So if you know how much you are making in this business when you are based in Russia, you can expect to be making a similar amount once you are based in Canada.

If you invest $100,000 into an ebay business (and spend 40 hours a week, 50 weeks a year working), you will probably be able to pay your bills using your profits. And you will have less uncertainty about the profit potential compared to the uncertainty associated with the profit potential of other businesses that you can start in Canada.

Of course one can no longer "get rich quick" in online porn. However, it seems to me that if one invests a considerable amount of money, and works full time, then one would be able to earn enough to support one's family by working in this industry. And that's what newcomers want, isn't it.

И заработки-запросы у них соответствующие: срубить 500 в месяц на рекламных показах - это для них стать самым богатым в своей деревне.
Даже подготовленных людей из российской глубинки не устраивает соотношение потраченное время/полученный доход в этой сфере деятельности, где цветет цельнотянутый контент, песок, холлвеи и сателлиты.

You seem to be talking about people who invest only their own labour into their business. In Canada, a small business that can generate enough profit to support a family costs about $100,000 (I know this is what people are paying for small "Variety" stores.) One might investigate the kind of return that one might expect if one were to pay $100,000 to buy an existing adult webmaster business. I would expect this return to be similar to the returns of a regular business.
Many of the Russian readers of this forum will have to wait for a long time before they can move to Canada. Being able to start their business in Russia and then having a guaranteed job (working in this business) upon arrival in Canada is something some of them might be interested in.

That is not what I said. If I remember correctly, the asking price for a small business is about 2 - 4 times the expected annual profit of the business. So, to earn between $25,000 and $50,000 a year, you have to pay about $100,000. This is true for Variety stores, for franchises, etc. I suggested that one might want to find out the kind of profit that one can expect from an adult e-business that is selling for $100,000. If this profit is between $25,000 and $50,000 a year, then one might consider going with this business.

Напишите на коленке что-то работающее - инвесторы в очередь выстроятся
(не так просто, конечно, но всё равно вполне реально)
