Online degree: does it make sense?

That depends on the career you are pursuing. I believe Sergey is talking about an IT career. If you are considering an online degree, it is better to get it from Canadian accredited universities (that have physical campuses). For example

or
http://www.athabascau.ca/
I believe your diploma from these universities won't say that you got your degree zaochno. In Canada, prestizhnost' of your university is not as important as it is in the United States. This is true for BA degrees. If you get high grades at a non-prestigious university, you can always transfer to a prestigious university during your last year (and then your degree will be from the prestigious university), or you can go to graduate school at a prestigious university.

I remembered that "Open Universities" at TRU and at Athabasca U require their students to write their final exams on campuses at their (students')local (canadian) universities. If this is the case, then you would not be able to do this while you are still in Russia. Please double check whether this is the case.
Be careful with those online degrees. It is ok to get a degree from a university that people have heard of (even if it doesn't have a great reputation), but it is not ok to get a degree from a place that doesn't even sound like a real university. Make sure you are not getting a diploma from a "diploma mill" (institutions that basically sell you their diploma).
