I don't think that she needs "poputchik".
On many occasions, I saw flight attendants taking elderly people, disabled people, and kids to the correct gate. All your grandmother has to do is stay in her seat when the plane lands. After all passengers leave the plane, a flight attendant will approach your grandmother, and she will have to show the flight attendant her boarding passes. The flight attendant will then take her to the correct gate at the airport. Just make sure that the layovers are at least an hour or two long.

Re: Попутчики
Dear Oleg,
The issue is neither age, nor medical conditions. She is, in fact, quite young. The issue is that she barely speaks English. So if she gets lost in Frankfurt with a very short layover it will be quite hard to seek assistance from attendants.
This is why I am looking for someone to be around, just in case.

The flight attendants will not ask for an i.d. to determine her age, or ask for the note from her doctor. If she asks for their help, they will get her to her gate.victor wrote:Dear Oleg,

She should not ask for help when she gets lost. She should remain in her seat, and give her boarding passes to the flight attendants (she could also give them a note saying "please walk me over to my gate). If she does that, it is my understanding (double check this with the airline) that they are supposed to take her to her gate.if she gets lost in Frankfurt with a very short layover it will be quite hard to seek assistance from attendants.
