To answer your question, it seems to me that people of both nations have a similar experience of life (not shared by people on other continents, and not shared by the Mexicans). Come to think of it, there is such a thing as American culture, but the same can't be said about the Canadian culture. Some CBC commentators (or former CBC commentators) might point out that an aspect of Canadian culture is the dislike of the U.S. I don't think this point can be taken seriously.Le Loup писал(а): Не понимаю что может наводить на мысли, что "Canadians are similar to Americans".
Our culture is the American culture. The "I am Canadian" beer ad doesn't make a culture, and, besides, it was on the news that the actor in that ad moved to Hollywood. The only difference between the Canadian edition of "Who wants to be a millionaire" and the American edition was the fact that the prizes were smaller. That doesn't make a Culture.
The only difference between the two cultures that come to my mind, is that Canadians like to think of themselves as being polite.
I have lived in Canada for over 15 years, and for more than half of my life.
