Детей у Вас не будет, партнера по жизни тоже...
I should be ok, as long as I don't suffer a stroke. To minimize my chance of having a stroke, I no longer add salt to my food (I eat mostly vegetables).
The money that I didn't waste on children, can be used to pay for a good nursing home. I looked into this. Most people overestimate the risk of ending up in a nursing home. They also overestimate the amount of time they can expect to spend in a nursing home. The reality is that an average person requires help and can't live on his or her own for less than 2 years.
A lot of people become disabled in old age because of a stoke. Many strokes can be prevented. Other people become disabled because of dementia. But you are not going to understand anything, so who cares about what happens to you when you get dementia! It will be your body there in the nursing home, but it will no longer be you.
In 50 years, they might have robots that will take care of the elderly. Imagine - throwing your life away (by living with a partner), only to realize that there was no reason to do that. That an affordable robot could take better care of you better than your partner could. Finally, people discount the future. A good 50 years now, are worth X bad years 50 years from now (where X is much smaller than 50).
Women tend to live a lot longer than men. If you are female, and if you care about your golden years, it makes more sense for you to stay single. This is basically a bet about which person will become ill first, and which person will have to take care of the other person. My guess is that the odds are something like 1 to 5, and the odds favour the men. If you have a male partner, the most likely outcome is that you will spend years changing his diapers, and THEN you will face the prospect of "dying alone". So why not skip the part with the diapers, and spend those years having fun on cruise ships instead?!
